2025 Canderel Toronto Building Block Challenge
On behalf of the Canderel Challenge team, thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2nd annual Building Block Challenge, an unforgettable day where innovation, collaboration, and community spirit came to life, one LEGO® brick at a time.
Hosted as part of our ongoing commitment to inclusive, pan-Canadian fundraising, this year’s Building Block Competition brought together participants of all ages for a fun-filled experience that fused creativity with purpose. The event kicked off with high-energy warm-up activities designed to get ideas flowing and friendly competition underway. Teams then set to work building intricate and imaginative LEGO® structures, some grounded in realism, others delightfully whimsical, as they competed for top honours.
Beyond the excitement and the incredible designs, the heart of the event was its purpose: supporting the SickKids Foundation and their vital work in pediatric health. This year’s proceeds are helping to advance the SickKids Precision Child Health initiative, a groundbreaking effort to customize care for every child, improving outcomes and transforming futures.
As we look ahead to Canderel’s 50th anniversary in late 2025, this challenge is just one example of how we’re expanding our impact across the country. Since our first corporate fundraiser in 1989, the (Défi) Canderel Challenge has raised more than $28 million to support translational cancer research and innovation. In 2024 alone, thanks to generous donors and dedicated supporters like you, we achieved a record-breaking $3 million raised for seven leading research centres nationwide.
